Lots of projects with OrthoWave in 2009

15 Feb 2009

The entire OW staff wishes you a fantastic new year… As a matter of fact, this coming year will offer critical ads to the OrthoWave software suite. These coming developments will be later on presented in details through the OrthoWave-Community web site, however we would just list some of them in few words, including the new “W-OW” OrthoWave in AJAX Web language, the newly designed Shoulder Joint module, pending partnerships with OrthoView for preop planning, or a plug-in that allows for printing Joint ID cards for traceability, without forgetting the most recent news about Joint registries…

– The use of OrthoWave is widely growing up and the on-line program works well. However in some case, especially due to firewalls and proxies in hospitals and clinics, either the speed of connection can be critical, or access to the on line database difficult to install through the local network. Elsewhere, some Mac users get difficulties to install OW on their computer, due to local conflicts in administrator rights. In order to provide solutions to these various bothers, we will be able within a couple of months to provide a specific access to the on-line database through a https-type secured web site re-written in AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), which is a highly performing new concept that allows extremely fast connections. Tests are astonishing so far… more to see soon within OrthoWave-Community!

– This “W-OW” (Web-OrthoWave) development will be perfectly appropriate to launch soon this year our famous “light OW”, which be compliant with iPhones, Note books and other PDAs… just as the new Windows 7 which will display numerous versions from “basic” to “professional”…

– PictIn is an interesting module which allows for enhancing x-rays, computing angles and distances after scaling images, and finally providing nice slides. A step further would be scheduled in a close future thanks to a fruitful partnership with OrthoView, which is an awesome program specifically devoted to any pre operative planning and templating in Joint replacement…

– The Shoulder Joint replacement module has been pre-designed and submitted for approval and finalization to various groups of users. Would you be interested in participating, do not refrain from addressing us as well…

– A partnership with VidimSoft Company is also in the pipe, to allow direct printing from OrthoWave of very nice Prostheses ID card to be distributed to Patients. This would be precious for traceability of the implants, as the Patient will wear a personal card summing up all interesting details about his own implants, including a photo of the joint replacement.

– Last but not least, some news from the Joint registers in France, England and Belgium. With respect to the French register, we have got official agreement by December 2008 from the French SoFCOT and University of Bern (IEFO) for a scientific partnership allowing feed the French Joint registry via OrthoWave. In such a way evaluation of implants results and epidemiology will be achieved while preventing from any double entry data or need for two different tools. We are just waiting for tech specs from MeMdoc, so as to create the link between OrthoWave and the French Register. Similarly, the MDS3 of the NJR English registry is ready to go from OrthoWave, however a bit stuck due to some kinks to iron from the NJR side about their bulk upload procedures. Some English friends of us are currently looking for addressing the NJR persons… Wait and see ?…By the way, no news so far from the Belgian register which is led by INAMI and Dr Van Doren… Joints registries remain a challenging project as well!
